Each year in early March, just as the first spring bulbs start to break through the earth’s surface and the first hints of warmer days to come fills the air, flower lovers and gardeners flock to the Philadelphia Flower Show. There, they find elaborate large-scale plantings that create a green, summer-like landscape within the shelter of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The Philadelphia Flower Show, hosted by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, is the grand-daddy of garden shows. The show dates back to 1829 and welcomes over 200,000 visitors to the event each year, making it the largest indoor flower show in the world.
The 2019 Show
The 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show takes place March 2 – 10.
The theme for the 2019 event is Flower Power. It’s always exciting to see how all the impressive displays fit within the annual theme.
The Florists Transworld Delivery World Cup floral design competition will also be held during the event this year and the floral designs created by the competitors will be on display at the Flower Show.
Tip: If you’re an early-riser and would like an uncrowded Flower Show Experience, consider purchasing an Early Morning Tour ticket. These special tours take place each morning, before the show opens to the general public. You’ll get an expert guide who will share their knowledge and show you around the displays. Early Morning Tour tickets include the morning tour, same-day admission to the show, admission to the member’s lounge, and a gift bag.
